What is that "popping" noise?

Ever thought...What's that popping sound when I get adjusted? Here's your answer!   The popping sound is technically called "cavitation", though many people call it "cracking". When a Nitrogen gas bubble is trapped in a joint it makes a "popping" sound when the joint is adjusted.   --Think about "popping" a cork on champagne. No damage is done by the cork popping - just the release of gas in the bottle. While cavitation is not necessary (sometimes the joint has no gas bubble in it) it is certainly the "sound of relief" for many people!
